A tighter cattle supply in Midland prairie markets pushed prices higher on Tuesday. Stronger competition from butchers and buyers lifted bids for best weighty bullocks to about 13 pounds 10 shillings, with other grades ranging from 11 pounds 10 shillings to 9 pounds. Readings covered beef offerings from high to medium weight bulls and calves, with quotes for good and medium beef at various per hundredweight levels.
Market opened firm, with graziers lifting 1200 sheep and lambs. Quality varied from Decal jeurls shorm to prime wethers and ewes, prices generally firm or rising, 4340 pigs penned, cattle classes well supplied, overall demand keen though some lines eased slightly.

Melbourne February 1 Secretary of State Torthy Jous has informed Mr Lyons he cannot travel to Australia as the Commonwealth Government’s guest for the Victoria Centenary celebrations. He expressed appreciation for the invitation and government courtesy.
Ed Harris MLC died after a short illness at a private hospital in Annealing at the age of years. Harris was born in Gawler Australia in August 1873 and grew up in Ben Digi Victoria before moving to the goldfields as a young man. He helped run the Bowlder Perseverance Mine and served as secretary of the Kalgoorlie Cer liieated Emgingdrivers Union for twenty years. He was active in the Labour Party and was elected to Kalgoorlie Municipal Council then to the North East Province in the Legislative Council in 1920, holding the seat until his death. The funeral was at Kerrakatta Cemetery Methodist section. He leaves a brother and two sisters, one formerly head of the ladies department at Frank Grees & Son.
