Debris from a registered letter bag robbery in transit from Wiluna to Perth reached the Perth GPO on Wednesday afternoon by special mail. Postal Director BR Roberts explained letters of advice were sent to affected addresses. Many correspondents included Commonwealth notes, which had their negotiable value removed. Those who remitted by money order, postal note, or bank draft can be relieved their remittances were intact despite delays. The thieves discarded non negotiable values, except £11 in Commonwealth notes, which escaped attention.
