Paris Berlin and Rome discuss rising birth rates amid postwar decline with propaganda campaigns and state incentives. Germany under Hitler pushes to push women from work and expand marriage loans while elsewhere governments promote family building and grants to parents and newlyweds.
The young man Horace Murray was charged at Mingenew Police Court on Saturday morning with disorderly behavior and obscene invengements. Judge T. Bride found the charge proved and fined Murray 100 shillings with 3 shillings costs. The same judge warned Murray that a repeat offense would be severely dealt with.
Bluff Point Hall hosted Parents Day with a display of students’ work from the State School. Mayor Geo Lester praised teachers and pupils, noted Miss Davis’s transfer, and honored Miss Brogan and head teacher Mr Balstrup. Prizes were awarded for work and attendance as parents observed a new teaching method and interactive student lectures.
Justice O Byrne in the Dublin Court released Generl O Duffy leader of the Blue Shirts and United Tea land Party after holding the Public Safety Act did not authorize arrest under the stated circumstances. Junior Five Mile Handicap Ginger Kons won, Keen second. further placings noted for other riders and upcoming handicaps for Sunday.
December discussions on the Collie coal dispute between Griffin Mine and the Railway Department concluded after key differences were adjusted by the negotiating parties. A settlement is anticipated with an immediate order for 500 tons of coal by the railways if the company accepts the terms.
