Carl Mackaway formerly elephant driver with Wirth Circus was acquitted by a Victoria District Court jury after being charged with unlawfully causing grievous bodily harm to eight year old Robert Arthur Uren during an incident outside the circus menagerie tent in Geraldton. The boy testified from hospital, and the jury found Mackaway not guilty, leading to his discharge.

Dolores Layton of Durlacher Street suffered extensive burns after her younger brother allegedly threw something onto a stove. Neighbors J Margeth and J Downie pulled off her clothing and extinguished the flames before professional care arrived. Her condition remains serious with no change since admission. Dolores was to perform at a Town Hall concert with Miss Verna Bowen's dancing class.
The Methodist Tennis Club announces its team to play the Presbyterian Tennis Club at Presbyterian courts on Saturday. The squad includes Mesdames Ki. P. Wilson, J. Wilson, J. Morrison, J. S George's Church Bluff Point holds Holy Communion at 8 pm with Sunday School at 3 pm and Evensong and Sermon at 7 pm followed by a Carol tract.
