At Copleys Siding on Monday 422 cattle were traded from the Gorgum and Koolinds shipments from Dery. Buyers showed strong activity but quality varied with no heavyweight bullocks yarded and a larger share of medium-conditioned stock. Quotations ranged from 18 to 20 pounds for good medium weight bullocks to 11 pounds for medium cows, with lighter stock cheaper and some prices higher in odd pens.
The Midland Junction sheep sale on Wednesday offered 5165 head, mainly Merino wethers in medium to heavy condition with strong prime ewes and light to medium lambs. Prices eased slightly due to softer skin values, exporters reported firm overall demand, with best Southdown lambs holding steady and heavy weights easing by about 1 shilling.
