Runaway tram crashes into tobacconists shop

A tram bound for Drummond left the rails at Quay Street and Ultimo Road in Sydney and buried three quarters of its length into a tobacconists shop. The vehicle burst into flames but, despite dramatic scenes and injuries to several, no one was seriously hurt. The driver was trapped but rescued as ambulances and fire crews responded. brakes were alleged to have failed.

A pretty church wedding took place at Christ Church Geraldton on Tuesday April 2 with Miss Emma Evensen marrying Mr. T H Maguire. The ceremony was choral, attendants wore blue georgette, and families hosted a reception in the Parish Hall. Darwin reports Constable Sheridan on patrol found James White near Blackgin Creek dying of thirst. White, with his swag, reached a dry waterhole and collapsed. Trackers later recovered the swag four days after leaving to follow his path and return to the Wave Hill police station.

Railway extension of the jug at Binnu and a weigh bridge at the siding were proposed with Mr OG Turner tasked to gather data. Refreshments were served to attendees including Mrs Turner and Miss Ralph.
