The Point Cloates Whale Fishery Station Description
In a visit to Mat's Landing I received an invitation from Mr Fatrae of Point Cloates to tour the Norwegian owned Seaflower whaling plant. The complex is described as the world’s largest, with anchorage and water supplies, materials from Norway, windmills and water tanks in the colony, and housing for workers plus a large bake house and kitchen. Electric lighting is installed throughout the establishment.

Whale Oil Digestion Plant Details From Antarctic Expedition
The account describes a vast, semi buried digestion and refining complex used to process whale blubber into oil. It covers digesters, tanks, tram lines, cranes, and steam winches, with processes from cracking blubber to drying and grinding bone meal, plus a whale-collection and oil-loading system and a water supply for daily operations. It notes large output potential, the reuse of equipment, and comments on the continent’s mystery.
