Burns Wins In Sydney Bout After Delayed Start
In Sydney on August 24 the boxing match began late after heavy betting favored Squires early. Referee Harry Nathan oversaw the proceedings as Squires entered to a loud ovation, followed by Burns who drew a tumultuous cheer. Burns displayed a fine physique while undressing, the sun rays accentuating his form near the north-west corner. The combatants finally shook hands and began the fight about half an hour after the scheduled time.
