Spanish Torture On Board The Irelawney Planter

The Irelawney Planter under Capt. MacDonald sailed from Jamaica July 26 and met three Spanish ships in the Gulf of Florida. He was captured and subjected to bilboes torture for sixteen hours, stretched between planks with a chestboard, while a deck officer and fifteen men searched the Trelawney Planter. He, and crew, were left in disorder with no explanation.
