Speech From the Throne on America Fails to Sway Parliament

The session opens with the King stating America faces rebellion and pledging force to restore order. Lords debate policy, with Rockingham and others urging conciliation, while Pitt’s government defends measures. In the Commons Burke and Fox question administration, Burke lampoons Lord North, Fox attacks oppressive acts, and Dunning warns against foreign troops without Parliament approval. The House adjourns after a long, divided day.
