Government posts and naval appointments in the London Gazette

The London Gazette reports Whitehall grants and appointments, naming John Charles Villiers as Warden and Chief Justice in Eyre for forests and parks beyond Trent, and Col Thomas Sloughter to adopt the name Stanwix. It also lists Gibraltar governorship changes, an Import prohibition order until Feb 1791, and numerous army promotions and levies including captains and lieutenants across several regiments. Also announced are bankruptcies, with multiple debtors surrendering assets at Guildhall, and university notices from Cambridge and Oxford with elections and degrees.

Royal Family Activities Amid Windsor Weekend Happenings

Secre tary of State Office letters from Madrid and royal troop moves

Friday night messenger delivered from Madrid ambassador Fitzherbert to the Secretary of State. Letters were married to the Duke of Leeds at Grosvenor Square. The Duke met Pitt and Grenville, and letters were sent to the King at Windsor and Cabinet members. Guards route fixed for three columns to Hyde Park, then to Portsmouth for four 44 gun ships. Rumor of militia call thought unlikely. Parliament meeting soon or later. Several naval moves noted including orders for the Royal Sovereign and Gladiator, with rope makers, and signals from Admiral Lord Howe and Goodall. Casualties, ship arrivals, and marriages are listed alongside multiple marriages and deaths in the social section.
