The Barber's Letter on Taxation and Liberty

A townsman writes in a coarse voice opposing tax tyranny. He defends honest work, mocks sparsely educated leaders, and argues Americans deserve representation. He warns of anger if forced to fund ministers and parsons, and pleads for liberty whether Britons stay or leave. He asks for guidance on replying to customers stirred by radical talk.

Remains of a Roman town explored on Champagne mountain

In a former letter the author describes visiting Roman-era ruins on Charlet mountain in Champagne, viewing thousands of artifacts including vases, statues, coins, keys, rings, weights, lamps, and glass melted by fire. under Mr Grinion's direction, discoveries suggest a once notable town, either burned or destroyed by an earthquake, with building remnants and a grape plantation at the base surrounding the hill.
