Whitby whaler details four whales and perilous voyage
The crew of a Whitby bound ship reported their successful capture of four large whales, two under fire, before ice and gale drove them back. The vessel later stranded on the ice, with part of the crew saved by ships Arvin and Elizabeth. all survived and arrived at Whitby. A Maryland farmer died after fording the Whiskat River. Arrivals at various ports include Eyal Platkett from Peterhead and others from Newport, Jamaica, and Norway.
