Wreck of the Cranbrook near Deal and shipwreck toll

From the London Gazette dated November 22 reports the wreck of the Cranbrook of London bound for Jamaica, with 500 tons of merchandise. The long boat and pinnace saved many, but several crew and passengers are missing or dead, including Mrs White and her servant and a negro boy. Porquet the Marine Commissary and local physicians aided the survivors. names listed may be misspelled from a French account.

Prohibition Motion in Commons on Colonial Trade

In Parliament Lord North moved to allow a bill prohibiting all trade with the North American colonies during their rebellion and to empower proclamations and commissioners. An amendment by Honorable Charles Fox was to strike key prohibitions while retaining empowerment clauses. The main motion passed by a large majority and a bill was ordered to be brought in with several named officials tasked to introduce it.
