Land-Owners of South Holland Oppose Taxation Plan

At a meeting dated October 28 1771 at the Bull in Fleet the ninth resolution from Wilscach dated September 16 was discussed. The assembly agreed that much land in South Holland would gain no benefit from the proposed undertaking by the North Level Commissioners and others. They resolved to oppose any taxation for the project by lawful means before and during the next Parliament session. A further meeting is set at the Chequer in Holbeach on November 25 to invite landowners or agents at 2 pm.
