Maid of the Oaks at Oldworths Oaks stage revival
A lengthy critique of a theatrical piece titled Maid of the Oaks staged at Oldworths Oaks. It centers on Oldworth as a benevolent landowner and his ward Maria, the Maid of the Oaks, their romance with Sir Harry Groveby, and the social satire of the upper class. The review praises scenery, performances by Mr. Brereton, Signora Crespi, and others, notes prologue by Mr. King, and describes the wedding plot and festive scenes at the Fete Champêtre and Feast of the Oaks.
