The Proprietors of the General Evening Post return thanks for public support and pledge to improve the paper. They seek equitable encouragement, aim for good content and print, better advertising display, and broader intelligence on manufactures and commerce to gain public approval and increase demand.
London notices report Monday obsequies for the late king with crowds viewing the body in state. The Gazette lists forthcoming appearances at Guildhall for brokers carpenters and merchants, plus dividends and Crown honors including a Bath order investiture for Mr Lynch in Turin.
A March 29 report covers windward sailing from Gravesend and Dover with several East Indiamen and other ships bound for India Virginia Boston Jamaica and Dublin. It also notes ships entering and clearing ports, a royal Chapel Royal visit with sermons and offerings, a lengthy London City Council and Tower of London related sequence, famine reports from Bengal including European deaths and aid, and political commentary on governance and liberty.
