London Bill on relief of poor read third time in Commons

Yesterday in the House of Commons the bill for relief of poor persons under certain circumstances was read a third time after a lengthy debate led by Mr. Calvert, Mr. Richards, and Mr. Morton against it, and Mr. Dowderwell and Mr. Gilbert in its favor. The motion to lay a list of East India Company proprietors before the House was debated but abandoned, with arguments that voting cannot be inferred from proprietors’ names. Gilbert reported on turnpike roads and toll money, while the committee on present high prices of provisions was adjourned to Thursday.
