Bribery Case At Hindon Practically Ended With Convictions
Substantial judgment by Mr Justice Aston declares Holiis and Smith guilty of bribery in Hindon Wiltshire borough elections. The court condemns the method of payments, calls bribery a fundamental threat to constitutional liberty, orders Smith and Hollis each fined a thousand marks and imprisoned six months. Smith also must post a heavy recognizance for good behavior after release.
