Royal Licence Granted to Hicks Beach Name Change

From the London Gazette July 3 the King grants Michael Hicks of Breverstone Castle and Williamstrip Gloucestershire and Netheravon Wiltshire a royal licence to assume the surname Beach and bear its arms in addition to Hicks, per the will of William Beach of Netheravon. Also contains assorted notices on bankruptcies and legal proceedings with names and dates.

Sea monster lands in Finnticino shore and weighs 6060 pounds

Saturday mails report a sea monster found on Finnticino shore weighing 6060 pounds with the head cut off weighing 490 pounds. It has been sold to fishermen for 138 crowns. Duke of York visits Portsmouth with French prince

On July 2 at the George Inn the Duke of York and Duke of Orleans arrived among rank, were marked as guests by Mayor and burgesses, then went to the Dock-yard. The Duke was made an honorary Burgess and later reboarded the Royal William for a short trip, attracting a huge crowd and leaving observers shocked by the scene.
