Dramatic critique of Antony and Cleopatra style tragedy
A 18th century theatre review discusses Dryden's tragedy as a bold but flawed work. It critiques Antony as a debauched hero, the Cleopatra romance, and the play’s moral framing. The writer contrasts classical and modern tastes, notes political asides, and reflects on audience reception and theatrical implications.
