A long OCR fragment reports diverse topics including maritime matters, theatre disputes, burglaries, assaults, poaching, and public notices. It mentions Count and stage performers, Captain Bergafen, a jail and execution, burglaries in Dyote-freet, and a December city committee in London. Names include Jamaica, Covent Garden, Blackwall, and St Giles.
A chaotic transcribed dispatch describes naval movements toward Gibraltar and Minorca. It notes Capt. Elliott of the Portland receiving orders to sail, and reports troop concentrations near Paris. Amid mixed commentary on French politics, the piece mentions possible recall of ministers and a suspected ambush on a warship.
Notice from Navy Office inviting men to apply to serve as surgeons mates in His Majesty’s ships. Applicants examined at the office may be employed if qualified, with two months’ advance pay and travel costs to the ships. Also parish notices authorize building a workhouse and invite proposals to purchase annuities for life, with nominees’ details and age certificates due by February next.
Auction notice for the Manor of Bivelham to be sold at the White Hart Inn Lewes Sussex on Saturday next the 26th of January between six and nine in the evening. The manor includes 792 acres of copyhold and freehold land with timber and demesnes plus a forge and several outbuildings, held by tenants at will and appurtenant rights and royalties across Mayfield and Wadhurst parishes.
A historical notice advertises a lease in Abingdon Berks with about 40 acres of arable and pasture ground and 5 stools of land. It lists premises near King's Head Ringttendna and Wantage with expiry at Mickisefar 17745 and invites further particulars from Messrs Witfingy Pratt Wantage, Berks and Mr Requigny Jacksony Oxford, Mr Gatten at the King's Head.
A fragmentary catalog lists harpsichord related items and prices, including “ps wellipbeds” and “Bach of Bertin.” References to Niolin solins, Hort dedication, and multiple price points suggest a mid-century music goods sale with scarce legible details and several misreads.
