Uniform attire for British sea officers ordered nationwide

London reports an order mandating uniform clothing for all naval ranks from Admiral to Midshipman with pattern coats and frocks stored at the Navy Office. A new order in council sets land and sea officer precedence, placing Admirals with Field Marshals and Captains with Colonels, among other rank alignments. News includes ship actions near Jamaica and Deal, a fire at Duke Street and other local incidents, plus editorials urging suppression of hawkers and pedlars to curb smuggling and support honest traders.
