Trial adjourned as damp hall hampers Lords’ work

On Tuesday February 9 the Lord Chancellor attended prayers by the Bishop of Gloucester. Sir William Chambers and Mr Confe were called to the bar and questioned about the hall condition for the trial next Tuesday. The hall was damp but could be made ready with braziers. Serjeant Adair argued that Charles II’s charter invalidated the election of Mr Amory as Alderman, making it illegal. Proceedings adjourned to Thursday next.
