Privateers and naval actions amid late 18th century hostilities
Reports detail captures of vessels sailing from Liverpool and other ports to Tortola and Rotterdam, with several privateers and ships taken into Brest and Ostend. Admiralty appoints Capt. Gordon to a 54 gun frigate and Captain Trevor to a 60 gun ship. Clerical appointments follow with presentations to various rectories and vicarages. Local crimes, accidents, and public notices fill the rest with press gangs, drownings, robberies, marriages, deaths, and upcoming assizes across the Western Circuit.
