The Sleepwalking Negretti of Vincenze in Mansion
An 18th century account describes John Baptiste Negretti a Vincenze domestic of the Marquis Louis. From age eleven he slept walk lifelong and this March night he acted in a series of elaborate senarial acts: moving decanters from a beaufet, fetching water, setting tables, preparing meals, and guiding a candle through the house. He exhibited repeated, complex actions in a somnambulant state while remaining unaware of his surroundings, with no sensory perception during episodes.
