A Saturday night tramways and electric lighting outage plunged Fremantle and suburbs into darkness with no transport or light. The editor criticizes the Tramway Board for silence and blames public administration for repeated failures and neglect.
State shipping service Cliff Street Fremantle lists routes for Hanbury Busselton Albany Hopetown Esperance with dates March 5. Unforeseen circumstances force postponement of the Point Walter Carnival. The event will now be held on March 18, 19, 20, 26 and 27, and on Easter weekend April 4 and 5, with dates adjusted accordingly.
The late Horace Brown formerly manager of Fremantle Majestic Theatre died last Friday in Fremantle. Known as Horrie he was cheery loyal and kindly as a husband and father. He led Majestic theatre youth papers and prizes and served in East Fremantle football. His loss is deeply felt by wife and daughter.
Captain Harris, late Harbour Master at Albany, is named Chief Harbour Master. Captain Winzar retires March 4 after 30 years service. Harris, a native West Australian, rose from the ship's ladder through hard work. Dr W Stanley Cook has begun practice at 2 Adelaide Street Fremantle hours 9 10 am and 7 8 pm. Kirtons Pharmacy Victoria Avenue 4 5 pm. Mr FR Lee, formerly of the Daily in Fremantle, is in Melbourne on Gold Bonus affairs. News Mr Friuth Sears of Dalgety and Co will return by Zealandia from holidays in the Eastern States. Captain Nicholls of Nicholls and Co Fremantle had bad luck with his new Essex, but escaped unharmed.
