Fremantle to lay two new water mains boosting fire insurance rating for the city area. A 12 inch pipe will run from South Terrace and Essex Street through Henderson Queen Holdsworth Hill and Swanbourne streets. A 10 inch main starts at Queen Victoria Road and James Street through Queen Victoria Road Cantonment Leake Packenham Nairn Essex Lane and Essex Street. The move follows years of fire risk concerns after past warehouse fires linked to weak water pressure.
The Boxing Stadium has been well patronised with several good exhibitions. On Monday and Friday nights several interesting bouts will be staged. The Children's Fancy Dress Ball each Wednesday night has proven a great attraction and will continue during the Carnival.

Commander Griffiths Bowen RN district naval officer Western Australia notes Rev F M Oliver and Mr Roberts of Wyatkatchem have returned home after a Fremantle holiday. Mrs P Raden leaves Swanbourne for a holiday in the Eastern States and then to England via Panama Canal. Mrs Dwelly East Fremantle and daughter depart by the Karoula to the Eastern States. Captain Potters Buick, a stolen car, is among recent incidents reflecting poor driving.
The new State motor ship Koolinda at Victoria Quay drew a large crowd for inspection and praise as it replaces the Bambra on the North West coast. Premier P. Collier highlighted the State Shipping Service’s wartime policing of freights and fares, while Chief Secretary J. M. Drew noted the efficiency of motor ships like Kangaroo and Kybra. The Koolinda is projected to cost 5 shillings per mile versus 9 shillings for the Bambra, with 60 percent faster speed and £80 daily savings on a 24 hour run. MILA’s J. B. Steeman also spoke.
Next Saturday the Fremantle Rifle Club will resume shooting on the 00 yard range for the fourth stage of the Vice Captain s Trophy. A good attendance of members and an early start is desired.
