Diversion dams will feed the mother ditch, beginning in Las Palomas valley then Rincon Mesilla and Paso valleys feeding into Texas and Mexico. Historic irrigation by Pueblo Indians cited, and the Junárez canal on the Mexican side has operated for 300 years. Engle dam’s 60000 acre feet for Mexico will enter that canal.
The Calgary Fair runs July 7 to 13 promising the largest western exhibition yet. $48,000 is spent on new buildings ready for opening day. Prize list, racing programme, and entries close June 29 for racing and July 5 for other entries. Wolseley Silver Band and Prof Markle’s trained animals appear. Squires the Juggler and a daily ascent ball are planned. Evening league baseball games and other attractions round out the program.
