Government advised seed improvement program offers free samples of oats spring wheat barley field peas Indian corn and potatoes to farmers via the Director of Experimental Farms Ottawa. Widening ties for the Great Falls and Canada Railway are being distributed along the line and, with favorable weather, work on widening should begin sooner than expected. Much narrow gauge is already equipped with broad gauge ties, while Canadian side work has been ongoing and should finish early spring. Great Northern aims to standardize the line and complete the conversion.
A proposed rail branch initiates from Arimington to Oka with plans to link the route to the Burlington line, outlining regional rail expansion and interchange possibilities.

Summoned and Mr Wright was removed to the public hospital. Doctors report this morning that the patient is feeling well and not suffering a great deal. The bullet will not be removed at present, but no serious results are looked for.

Jan 25 Edmonton reports a tragic accident at the Imperial Bank when a revolver on a shelf fell and discharged. The bullet penetrated wire netting and struck Mr Wright in the knuckles and face while he stood in the teller’s compartment. Medical aid was provided at once.
A Wednesday evening table tennis event at Mr Beechers residence featured twelve entrants. Canon Hilton won the finals against H Nash to capture first prize, a basswood ping-pong table top, after a sequence of rounds including byes and close set scores.
An Excellently Equipped Corps Halifax Jan 28 The Canadian Mounted Rifles commanded by Col E B Evans will embark at 10 oclock this morning on the troopship Victorian at the naval dockyard for South Africa. The horses have been placed aboard and are in first class condition.
