The Forbes brickworks owner Martin Ryan sold the business including equipment land and buildings after the clay pit flooded. He cited capital shortages delaying plans for a modern brickworks and has bought the Dunn grocery business on Flint Street.
Heavy rain over the Wyangala catchment caused river levels to rise along the Forbes Cowra and Orange regions. Officials say no homes will be evacuated in Forbes though stock must be moved from low lands as the river crested and roads flooded, with water flowing over the Orange Road at the Southern Cross and near Bedger.
An electrician for Forbes Municipal Council was shocked and bruised after touching a live wire and sliding down a pole on Sunday. His safety bell kept him from a direct fall. he was treated at a doctor’s clinic and then home by ambulance.
Forbes technical classes commence the second term on Monday May 28. Home decorating classes begin Wednesday May 31. Enrolments and fees due for second term.
The Forbes Hifle Club announces a shooting event at the local life range starting at 2 p m on Saturday afternoon. The balance sheet showed a year start credit of 66 7/4 and end credit of 9/31 with membership receipts from headquarters.
