Over 200 couples attended the Diggers Ball in Forbes Town Hall on a mild Tuesday evening in 1938. Nearly 450 patrons paid admission, supporting sub-branch funds to aid distressed ex-servicemen, with two orchestras Edwards' Ambassadors and Narromine Ammonodens providing music. Mayor H. Ford opened the event, supper ran smoothly, and organizers praised volunteers led by Mrs West for the banquet. Net profits were expected near £80.
Cowra held a 7–3 lead late, then rallied to overturn Hurden Murrumburah in a tough Maher Cup match. Cowra trailed 2–0 at half time with the backs pressing in the second period, Abel opened the scoring for Cowra and O'Shea followed.
A new pink rose named Don Bradman was exhibited by the Horticultural Society in London. The bloom was described as very free blooming and a notable addition to the display.

George Washington Brownhill aged 65, long time journalist and editor in chief of Forbes Advocate and Western Times, died Wednesday in Bathurst. A founder member of the Bathurst Turf Club, he spent his boyhood in Goulburn and worked across Forbes, Parkes, Trundle, Wellington, and Bathurst. Cremation held at Northern Suburbs Crematorium after service at All Saints Cathedral Bathurst.
