Assor matir 1 Eilkett state member arrived at Forbes on Saturday and saw the Advocate report that urged support for a Government grant. He liaised with hospital President Mr J Ford and sent a telegram to Acting Health Minister Athol Richardson seeking urgent aid to cover debts and operating costs. The Minister suggested more information from the Board before replying, while Elliott planned to attend a hospital committee meeting to press for immediate relief. Directors hinted that management changes might follow if relief is not secured soon.
The Bathurst Returned Soldiers League asked the Minister for Justice to order an inquiry into the three minor imprisonment sentence handed to John George McLennan, 41, for stealing groceries from a car. McLennan, a returned soldier, claimed no prior convictions beyond drunkenness, but this statement is disputed. The league debate followed a heated discussion at a sub-branch meeting and a motion to involve the league, of which McLennan was a member.

John Bell Irvine faced charges at Forbes for stealing two dollars in March 26 and other local money valued at 11/4 from John bet Sergi Pollard. The police applied for remand to this morning, which Irvine objected to but did not pursue. Mr MoJ McCauley JP presided and granted the application.
In Wellington district, Timmed John Larkin, a Victoria native lodging at a city home on Lee Street, was allegedly beaten with a heavy weapon after a quarrel with Lanigan of Parramatta. Larkin died next morning at the District Hospital from severe head injuries. Lanigan was brought before the court on a murder charge with bail denied.
Forbes militia men who enlisted before February end prepare for a one day camp in Liverpool on April 25. Each recruit must bring personal gear including knife fork spoon toilet requisites a mug plate and sandshoes.
A Forbes council report from the Carcoar conference outlines progress on the Central Tablelands Water Scheme. It details proposed county council powers, representation for Forbes and Grenfell, and the aim to keep water costs from rising above local supply costs. The proposal to grant one delegate per county was opposed. leaders urged two delegates for Forbes and Grenfell to ensure fair influence in the county council.
