State abandonment of the tax field is proposed by the Commonwealth Treasurer Mr Fadden. Other ideas include uniform rates across states and applying the lowest taxed state rate. Mr Fadden noted War Savings Certificates contributions fell £3,000,000 short of the target, underscoring revenue needs.
