Parkes Club loses license after inspection by board officials who expressed dissatisfaction with club administration. Secretary Mr Jack Sulesby resigned. bard secretary Mr J Aurthur noted. Similar action was previously taken against the club by road authorities.
The deceased, who had been in poor health for months, lived on Carrawobutty for a considerable period. Details will be continued in Friday's issue.
An ad style notice promotes a cough remedy claiming savings and family protection. It touts a pint bottle of Heenzo Manes remedy, asserts safety for adults and children, and urges ordering from a local store. The text is muddled but centers on a health product claim and purchase prompt.
Parkes central western acre club hosted an air pageant for Air Forbes Week with clubs from Parkes Broken Hill and Narromine and about ten aircraft. A glycol leak grounded the Mustang. The refused offer of £106 was part of a sad accident as Catlow, a six year old gelding bred from Sculpin and Amy Huster, broke a bone while training at Newmarket and had to be euthanized. Ridden by amateur Jack Barton, Catlow had won two of his previous starts this month and had been aimed at the Grenfell 3.0 and Newmarket Handicap.
The referendum proposals were overwhelmingly defeated with 12,060 votes for No and 340 for Yes, plus 409 and 29 absent votes recorded for South Forbes and other locations. Informal and absent votes totaled, leaving no majority in favor.
R W F Sheahan minister for Lands visited Forbes on a Thursday to advise prospective settlers, especially ex servicemen, on land problems. He met Diggers at the Australia Hotel and attended a council meeting where he discussed closer settlement along the Lachlan, subdivision of Jemalong and Carrawlty estates, irrigation, and the need to protect settlers from unsuitable land. He urged thorough assessments and noted future opportunities for returned soldiers with continued government support.
