Fair Rents Court Cases At Forbes
A string of fair rent disputes were heard at Forbes Court on Tuesday with Lawrence Cohen detailing substantial repairs he carried out after acquiring premises on Dugan Street. He claimed the owner Chas Bing had not funded repairs prior to purchase, while Cohen had spent about £86 on plumbing and electrical work, £6 to enclose a verandah, £30 for a cyclone gate and other improvements. The case was adjourned as counsel sought to call the executor of the estate. Mrs Elsie Fell successfully contested rents at Rankin Street and an interior exterior painting variation was not pursued, with further adjustments requested for fuel stove provisions and other improvements at her premises.
