Constable Symos recalled with Contlible Beavan that witnesses Nicholls and Kirkman said they were en route to South Forbes and heard notes and struggle toward Bouthgate's camp. They claimed it appeared over when they arrived, with Lyneham and his wife at the Southgates camp. They said they were investigating an alleged assault by Southgaten on Mrs Wilson, not the present case, and saw little of the event. The matter closed, but the court still to be held weeks hence.
