Forty Infantry Recruits Enlist in Forbes
Forbes recruits men and youths sign for three years of voluntary infantry training in the Australian Military Forces at Forbes Town Hall. Only two of those examined were rejected. Lt Col McDonald Major Hill and two warrant officers visited Forbes for the unit, which will use the Scout Hall as temporary HQ. Enlistments continue tonight and Thursday with detailed directions for applicants.

Acquitted of culpable neglect in Forbes motor death
Forbes magistrate heard evidence on January 14 death of 27 year old William Whittaker after a collision in Forester Street Forbes. John Daniel Hickey aged 29 was arraigned on manslaughter but the coroner found Whittaker died from a spine fracture with no culpable neglect by Hickey and discharged him. Medical and police testimony described the wreck involving a single seater and a lorry, with Hickey later arrested for drunkenness and released to face manslaughter next session.
