Chairman Wheatley urged drastic measures to restore the district’s rabbit-free reputation, while others urged balance between leniency and action amid harvest delays and widespread infestation.
At Forbes a night train was raided with goods torn open and shoes and drapery strewn about. Police and railway officials investigate damage to Meson L L Davis John Meagher Co McDade and Taylor and others with losses estimated around ten pounds and more in disruption.
Forbes Pastures Protection Board moves to re erect the barrier fence on South Gondobolin Road near Moonby after Lachlan Shire Council tore it down. Directors report a Sydney local government meeting and a ministerial pledge to back actions by the board while the council seeks to be relieved of all damages liability. A possible 50 50 cost split is discussed amid tension over who pays for the pull down.
Stan Cowan formerly of Cootamundra arrived in Forbes this week. He served with the British Mary Anne bugler and rose to other duties. After the war he moved to Australia and saw service in the Ape chante near Western waters before seeking employment and joining local bands in Forbes.
