George Henry Reid of the 12th AIF and 6th AL offers to stake sums with Mr. Dunn over a charge of desertion from the troopship Kérya. Reid pledges £10 to a hospital while Dunn would risk £5 if he does not prove the statement within one month. failure to accept within 72 hours implies Dunn refuses to prove the claim.
A girl about 12 almost drowned in Mandagory Creek near the bridge at Eugowra on Christmas Day. Mrs Cowell leaped in to help but nearly drowned herself. a railway worker from Eugowra helped rescue the girl and saved both from a double tragedy.
