The Hon. Ry Vincent MLA minister for mines and forests will visit Forbes tomorrow to receive a delegation of miners and inspect active mines and forest operations. He plans to discuss development and prospecting, and seeks a railroad connection for continued growth.
Following the half yearly exams in the infants department of the Forsbes Public School the class lists show top ranks. Lemille Judda Arnel Raymond Mitchell Mary Weaton Cepumd plus other students awarded first and second places across multiple classes including Judith Soe Jesse de Suite Morris Geayaly Donald Hytmer and more with several equal placements noted.
Alan Hough secretary of the local Labor League tripped over a wire placed to deter a baby on a verandah in William Street. He fell on concrete steps injuring a kneecap and was taken to District Hospital for treatment. He may be in bed for a month with possible permanent disability. A dance in his honor will be held at the West Swimming Reserve Hall near Wednesday evening.
The Hoye mew story of Arthur Hughes & Co. of Minikin 32 will officially open Saturday morning. A £30 worth of Christmas gifts is offered free to celebrate the launch. The new store is four times the size of the old premises with extensive display counters, a spacious front, and a rear office. The business includes a leather, hardware and general factory at the rear, while sections of the old store cover ironmongery, furniture, groceries, china ware, tools, confectionery, and sporting goods. A special Christmas gift event is planned.
Arrangements have been completed for a Sydney cricket tour by a selected Forbes team to commence on 09 Boxing Tay. NSWCA secretary H Haydon organized the games and players depart Sunday week. Manager Herold Moloney will lead the squad, with full player list and match programme to be announced in due course. Mr and Mrs Stan House announce birth of a baby son.
Marist Brothers College held a prize day celebrating a year of work by students. Winners in examinations and Christian conduct received awards while teachers and benefactors were thanked for support. Dean Brennan urged continued study and virtue through reading and self-improvement.

The record auction aims to solidify Forbes as a premier stock selling centre in NSW. Local council plans yard expansions while officials discuss market safeguards and industry growth amid broader economic notes. The item also reports on religious and school events, including remarks by Dean Brennan and school activities at the college.
At a special Porches Municipal Council meeting Ald. H. K. Ford was chosen mayor for 1934 and Ald. W. H. Hancock named deputy mayor. The mayoral allowance remains £75. a ballot gave Ford 1 vote to 4 to lose the post, then Ford won the mayoralty by five votes to four in a later ballot. Deputy mayor chosen after a deadlock with Hancock elected.
A Sydney cooperative and Edward Weaver & Co of Forbes report about 1200 fat sheep and 10000 store sheep yarded at a special sale. Buyers from Nevertire Narromine Dubbo Trundle Tulmore Peak Hill Aledown Parkes and local districts attended. The market opened competitive and most stock cleared. Fat woolly lambs fetched 20/6, crossbred lambs 16/1, store merino ewes 7 to 13 shillings, crossbred welders 10/6 to 13/1, with the overall market 2/ to 3/1 dearer.
