Jemalong Shire Council final meeting notes rate cut and Colletts Crossing
The Jemalong Shire Council held its final meeting on Saturday with President J J Bweeney and councillors. The president’s annual report cites 1925 revenue of £215,325, plans for seven miles of new road from eight thousand pounds of contracts, a proposed rate of 19d in the £, and approval of Colletts Crossing Bridge by the Public Works Department. The report notes curtailment of Forber Municipality, Main Roads Board grants, new plant acquisitions, and the death of clerk Tazell, with Mr Jugo appointed to the vacancy.

Parkes competitors sent Avaunt and other horses to the Mudgee meeting where Rumemi won the Cup runoff and Avaunt faded. Howley Shearman rode Bronze Pigeon and Lurgalone, with Bronze Pigeon taking the Novice Handicap on day two. Clover Boy’s trainer W. Cresswell was killed at Morven races after being knocked down. Rosehill winners included several in the handicaps, while Sunlyrise damaged a hind tendon and had to be destroyed. Cooee the chestnut, after a high jump record, may compete at the Royal Show with plans for a higher Forbes jump.
