Air Raids Over England Subdued as Britain Goes On Offense
Reports from the last 24 hours show reduced German raids on England while Britain resumes offensive actions. Five British fighters lost, one mine raid near Kent, one light vessel sunk, and several German planes shot down with parachutes found. Berlin claims of long-range shelling lack confirmation. The Transylvania, a British armed merchant cruiser, was torpedoed and 300 crew saved. US officials deny any plan to supply Europe with food and the Italian-Africa front actions are described as serious but not critical.
