Reminding Forbes residents of the Mogan Gate annual show, organizers led by secretary T. J. Martin expect a large turnout. A special Forbes train departs at 10 a.m. for Bogan Gate, arrives by noon, and returns about 3:30 p.m., stopping at intermediate stations.
William Alfred Foley of Forbes died at Crombie Private Hospital after a severe lung congestion and heart failure at age 72. Known for independence and blunt honesty, he valued straightforward dealings and loved outdoor life with his Irish terriers. He served briefly as a warder in Forbes and later built a tobacconist business, leaving a widow and siblings in Queensland America and China. Funeral held Sunday in Forbes with Rev. F. M. Oliver officiating.
Miss Marian Bowen aged 31 died of heart failure following asthma in Forbes. She had run the millinery department at Messrs Manson Co and resided at the Vandenberg Hotel. Her Sydney relatives will collect the remains by train this afternoon.
A Forbes referendum on lighting ended in a tight electric light victory by a narrow margin amid low turnout. Only 160 of 645 eligible voters cast ballots creating a disputed result and prompting aldermen to face calls for further public input on the gasworks future.

A public meeting will be held in the Forbes Town Hall on Saturday the 13th at 3 p m. to form a committee to take steps to raise the district quota. Mayor R Hawkins and Jemalongshire president Rawlins urged attendance.
