Discussion at a committee meeting last Thursday night approved employing a coach and four paid players. Despite concerns about debt, the group, led by treasurer E Mesaltier, projected a strong season with a hoped for seven hundred pounds and a balanced end, and unanimously decided to engage the paid players and coach.
St Laurence's Club held the annual meeting at the Mariat Brothery school last Tuesday night with about 25 attendees. The club was reformed to compete again in the Meagher Shield, officers named include President Rev Dr Fox, Vice Presidents Rev Dean Brenton and Rev Bro Aldan, Secretary J F P Laonon, Treasurer S J Carters, and a subcommittee to draft club rules. Delegates to the Meagher Shield Committee were Meséra Belgrove Hall and Lewis. A 2 shilling annual subscription was set per member.
