News from Perpignan to Vienna and Paris in April
A morning packet from Great Britain arrives with Bolland Mail. In Perpignan on April 17 the Duke de Noailles was welcomed with artillery, troops ready for a march on the 26th, likely against Gironne with 12,000 men and 3,000 in the enemy garrison. Barcelona reports many troops near the city and Catalonia funds four new regiments. In Vienna on April 23 the Queen and court depart for Schoonbron for the Spanish marriage ceremony with cannon salutes. The Empress and archduchesses tour Hundensdorf, Din ner, and Haidensdorf while affairs progress at Schoonbron. Paris notes on May 4 the Duke of Burgundy named Generalissimo in the Netherlands, with Wales and other princes’ forces set to move, Marlborough’s baggage expected, and England preparing field dispositions.
