News from Paris and Venice on Turkish siege actions
From the Paris Gazette dated Sept 26 and London reports Sept 18 and 18, details reach that a Venice envoy from Rome relayed that after the Spanish squadron joined near Corfu the Turk siegemen urged their transport crews to flee lest pursuit trap them, the besieged force broke out and slew many Turks, forcing them to flee abandoning cannon and tents as Venetians prepared to strike. Parliament prorogued to Oct 16 and the Earl of Litchfield took oaths in the Lords.
