Siege of Bethune Ends with Garrison Surrender
In a lengthy dispatch from Paris dated June 17, the garrison of Bethune, 6 battalions strong, capitulates after 15 days of open trenches as Villars presses the siege. French forces resume bombardment and take the besieged fortifications, with a later note that Prussia and Hanoverian units retreat and troop movements continue toward Catalonia.
