Disbanding Catalan Regiment and new promotions reach Madrid
News from Madrid and abroad report the disbandment of a Catalan regiment quartered there, with two hundred men added to each of its three battalions. Estramadura and other regiments gain formations, while new commissions raise horse, dragoons, and foot units. Don Diego d Astorga is named grand inquisitor of Spain as promotions sweep generals and officers across the realm.
