Treatise on Architecture and Royal Notices of 18th Century

A long mixed rasher of old book notes and advertisements. It details Perrault’s architectural treatise with English notes and tradesmen’s notices, then shifts to public notices about heirs and property, a missing box finders reward, tooth restoratives, medical quack cures, and horses, all dated in the late 17th or early 18th century London milieu. The items mention Simon Bartlet, J. Senex, and Mr. Ratford, with locations near Chancery Lane, St Paul’s Churchyard, and the Strand, and in-house elixirs promising cures for ruptures, breath, teeth, and the king’s evil.

General Court of South-Sea Company Debates Over Funds Sale

June 19 London printers report a South Sea Company general court debating a proposal to sell part of funds or annuities to the Bank at 105. Lord Morpeth and Mr Hopkins argued who should speak first amidst loud quarrel for about an hour. Many speeches followed as the adjournment and ballot questions vexed the assembly, leaving matters undetermined after three o clock.
